About Me

I am going into my 44th year in education with 17 years as a high school history teacher, 5 years as a middle school English teacher, and 11 as an administrator. My admistrative jobs included principalships at every level as well as a director of instruction job. Since leaving the system I have devoted my time to work with teachers through graduate classes, insevices, mentoring for two years with teachers in Osceola implementing Brain Based Learning through Multiple Intelligences. This summer I will be co-facilitating a seventh Masters Program with a laptop community in Rice Lake Kimberly and Pulaski.

hi julie...I think I may have indicated that my daughterinlaw is a teacher just like you who decries the move toward teaching to the test...has your district or building had study groups where you read a book and talk about it..we used to meet at 7 atAM a local restaurant once a week and talk about the book..(it was great PR as we heard how the word passed that teachers were back there talking about how to teach better!)...you don't have to be that elaborate but make sure your principal is in it so she can see what the research says and you all can voice your objections through the book...Alice...there is a great book out there by Thomas Armstrong that you might want to look at ...it's called the Multiple Intelligences of Reading And Writing...It might give you ideas on how to make those skills easier to deliver...Thanks
