"FINAL"

Create a brain based unit that you will use after this class is over that incorporates ideas from the book and other students. Keep in mind the 8 intelligences as you design the lessons, especially the assessment. You can complete the unit using your districts' curriculum template or any other method you comfortable with. Please post a summary of it on the blog so others who might be interested in using it may request the entire unit from you. Send the unit to me by snail mail to 936 Linden Ave Rice Lake 54868. For those of you that do not teach please create a document indicating how you might use this information in your workplace.

Answer the following questions for all the chapters in your book (please note that Secrets of the Teenage Brain has 7 chapters and Beginning with the Brain has 11). Please give very complete answers so we can understand your thinking.

1) In what ways might you translate the principles presented in the chapter into practical, everday, useful ideas.

2)If these things are in fact true about the brain, what should we do differently? In what ways might you suggest we start doing this in our classrooms, buildings or districtwide?

3) If you were to plan your next step for making your curriculum (or worksetting) more brain compatible, what would that look like?

brain based teaching and learning

Welcome to your blogsite! I hope you have a productive time creating new learning scenerios for your students based on the latest research about the brain and learning. The procedure is for you to answer all three questions for every chapter in your book. Periodically, go back and see what the rest of the class has written to get new ideas and also to respond to their ideas. You will work at your own pace. The class is officially over November 17th and all assignments should be finished by then. I will send in grades after that and St Thomas will send you your grade. Then and only then should you request a transcript from them as they get testy if you do it before that. I will be happy to send a verification notice to you in case you need it to get a pay increase or whatever. Please feel free to investigate anything interesting you may come across in your reading and don't hesitate to ask me questions. I have a lot of information and hand outs I use in workshops on Multiple Intelligences and Brain Compatible learning that I would be happy to share...just let me know if you want them. Meanwhile have fun and I hope to learn a lot from you all...Barney
